Coming Events

Greetings from Westminster!

A new year is upon us and there is already a lot of exciting things on the horizon.

1. Harry Potter and God. You are invited to a unique education opportunity that begins this Sunday, January 4th at 9:15 a.m. Director of Student Ministries Carl Anderson will be leading a class that looks at the Harry Potter movies and how one person claims they are on par with the Chronicles of Narnia and the Lord of the Rings when it comes to spiritual content. Each week participants will watch a segment of a movie and then explore how God may be at work. This class is open to all ages (families encouraged to come together), but since some of the movies are PG-13, children younger than Middle School need to bring a parent if they'd like to attend. The class will meet in the newly refurbished Gillespie Student Center.

2. Youth in Worship. During January the youth of the church will be assisting in worship as we learn more about their summer mission trips and how we can support them.

3. Food Collection. It's the first Sunday of the month which means we will be collecting food for the hungry during worship. Be sure to bring your canned or non-perishable food items to church.

4. De-Decoration. Your assistance is needed after worship to take down the Christmas decorations. If you are able to help, please gather by the round tables in Wright Herberich Hall immediately following worship.

5. January Birthdays!  The Membership Committee will be hosting a birthday party on the first Sunday of each month in 2009. Stop by Wright Herberich Hall after worship to celebrate all January birthdays with a cake.

Adult Education Class at 9:15 a.m.: Climbing the Mountain.  Come join others in an exploration of the challenging words and teachings of Jesus from the Sermon on the Mount.
